Later in 2024, you can generate exciting backdrops using the latest YouTube feature, Google Veo, which will allow you to create AI backgrounds for Shorts.

Veo In a Nutshell…

Veo is Google’s DeepMind AI video generation model that will allow creators to generate exciting backgrounds and six-second clips.

This AI model competes with video generation models such as Sora (OpenAI), Runway, Pika, and Irrelevant Labs.

Veo can create 1080p clips in different cinematic styles. It is the latest upgrade from “Dream Screen” which was introduced in 2023. Dream Screen allows creators to generate unique backgrounds from text prompts.

What’s with the Veo AI Model?

It will enhance the platform’s video background generation process to produce more cinematic and impressive clips.

Veo can edit and remix a previously generated clip or footage as well.

It will also allow creators to produce 6-second standalone clips for Shorts. To use it, click “Create " and type in a prompt. Dream Screen then creates four images. You can then choose a photo to turn into a video.

Veo will also allow you to add filler scenes to your videos, tying your story together and giving it more context to make smoother transitions.

Veo & Other YouTube Updates

Many of the updates that YouTube is introducing are for content creators.

YouTube revealed that it’ll integrate Veo into Dream Screen.

Dream Screen creates interesting backgrounds for Shorts from text prompts.

The latest addition, Veo, will produce not only backgrounds but also 6-second clips as B-rolls if your clip is missing something.

However, note that every creation will have the watermark “SynthID,” telling viewers that AI made what they are looking at. But then, the watermarks will not be visible to the eyes. Instead, such can be seen through special detection tools.

YouTube will also expand its voice dubbing feature and the number of supported languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and French.

YouTube is testing expressive speech, a feature transferring the intonation and tone of the creator and the ambient sound into the dubbed audio.

Other updates include AI-generated video suggestions and the Hype system, a new community hub that will hype up YouTube videos. The company tested it in Taiwan, Turkey, and Brazil.

Other updates will allow creators to use AI to brainstorm video ideas within the Studio, respond to fans and followers with AI-assisted comments, and create AI-generated thumbnails.

YouTube will also add digital items, such as “Jewels” that fans can send to creators to interact with their favorite ones during a live stream.
