OpenAI has rolled out a personalized year-end review feature for ChatGPT users. It joins the growing trend of apps offering annual recaps similar to Spotify’s popular Wrapped experience.
OpenAI calls the new feature “Your Year with ChatGPT.” It’s now available to eligible users in select countries, like the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand, and Australia.
The experience includes personalized awards and custom poetry. It even features AI-generated images that reflect how users interacted with the chatbot (ChatGPT) throughout 2025.
Accessing the feature requires users to enable their “reference saved memories” and “reference chat history” options in their accounts.
OpenAI emphasized that the experience is privacy-forward and entirely optional. Users won’t have the review automatically opened or forced upon them.
The annual recap assigns creative awards based on usage patterns.
For example, users who are great at troubleshooting might receive the “Creative Debugger” accolade. Other recognitions are available, depending on what users focus on for the year.
A custom poem accompanies each annual user review. It also features an AI-generated image tailored to the user’s topics of interest throughout the year.
OpenAI confirmed that Team, Education, and Enterprise accounts won’t have access to this consumer-focused feature.
Users can trigger the year-end review by visiting the ChatGPT home screen. Alternatively, they can simply ask ChatGPT for “Your Year with ChatGPT.”
This launch comes as AI tools continue evolving beyond simple text generation. AI platforms are becoming more personalized and user-centric (as exemplified in Puppetry’s AI talking head technology). Transforming static interactions into engaging (highly customized) experiences is so much easier with such tech.
TechCrunch says the new ChatGPT feature uses catchy graphics. It also leverages personalized elements to create shareable moments that actually resonate with users. It’s a proven strategy for Spotify, Apple Music, and other successful apps.
AI assistants (and AI-powered video tools) are becoming more integrated into daily workflows. And features like year-end user reviews help humanize the technology while reinforcing user loyalty.
